Project leader workshop and exchange between country groups

About the Project

As part of Robert Schullan and Jannik Mechau's Board trip to Uganda, a two-day project leader workshop for our local members was held at the University of Ndejje with a total of 23 participants. In addition, our Ghanaian and Ugandan members presented their own projects at an evening event and exchanged ideas intensively Good and professional project management is the key to a successful and sustainable project. Therefore, our association aims to strengthen project work in our international country groups and to provide our local members with the necessary tools for successful project planning and implementation. On February 13 and 14, a 2-day project leader workshop was held at the University of Ndejje with 21 members of the Ndejje regional group as part of our board trip. In addition, 2 members from the newly founded regional group Kampala took part. We were also supported by our Ghanaian members Sylvester and Nurudeen. The evening before the workshop, there was a get-together including dinner in the WhatsApp Garden. Sylvester and Nurudeen presented several of their own projects from the Ghanaian regional groups Sunyani and Accra. Afterwards, various members of the Ndejje RG provided information about their projects and activities. The many questions, discussions and intensive exchanges during the evening showed a strong mutual interest among our international members. Many ideas and best practices were exchanged, and friendships were made across regional and country groups. As a result, our first goal which was the intensive networking between the participants was successfully achieved. The project manager workshop started the following day with a comprehensive presentation of our association including our goals and project examples by Robert. Then, Jannik led us through individual work blocks such as project initiation using our project sheet, smart goals, stakeholder and risk management and budgeting using our budget file. The content was intensified in several group exercises. Four break-out groups worked on four different project examples in the fields of water supply, teaching computer basics, reforestation and biochar. The group work was excellently supported by Sylvester, Nurudeen, Immaculate and Renin, who had already attended the workshop before. The presentations of the individual groups showed a high level of commitment and attention as well as a quick absorption of the topics by the individual participants. With the successful completion of the workshop, 23 members in Uganda are now empowered to lead projects for our organization. Finally, we would like to thank Roice K. Bwambale for the opportunity to hold the project manager workshop at the Water Research Center and to RG Ndejje, especially Irene and Hiram, for the organization.
