Arrival of Success
15th of September 2017
Today was good.
Early in the morning we found out that the driver that went to Kumasi found some of the spare parts we needed and was on the way back here. Right after breakfast we hit it of to a good start. Maja and Heiko together with Sam and Oxy made their way to the two smaller generators and put in the belts that fit. As it turns out getting spare parts is not only complicated in the electric sector but even in something as basic and much needed as engines. Thus only one of the four belts he got fit. They were also able to get car fuses. The engine control was fixed and the blown out fuses were replaced. The connections to the battery have to be reworked by Oxy at a later time since cable shoes were not among the available parts.
In the mean time our fourth team member headed over to the new maternity block again. This time to get all the measurements of the power sockets regarding placing, height and number. The next team will install all the devices in the building and wants to make sure the electric wiring is up to at least close to german safety standarts. So the electrician in question wants to calculate the resistance of the wires to see if the fuses are the right size. Meaning loads of running and drawing for us. These kind of things are common in our organisation since they improve the quality of the next work done, simplify the planning effort for the next team and lead to unforeseen cross-idea-situations. Even when Heiko joined we needed into the afternoon to finish the building. Hope we didn’t miss one 😉
Talking of afternoon: Ours was filled with small tedious things. A self made connector for the water grid on a dental chair was replaced with a stainless one from the manufacturer, a box for our more spacious working materials ( now the Heiko Box) was acquired, our Memorandums of Understanding were prepared, the inventory of our tools checked, the drive to the next hospital organized and last but not least Peter( known to many as Arne) planted four little palm trees in our Garden which has lain barren for the last two years of our projects.
As you can see we are back to strutting up the hill – technically, health and spirit wise!
Tomorrow we make our way to Agomanya south of the Voltar lake. So…
Stay Posted!
