Update 24th October

Day 3

Our first day in actions started with meeting a lot of people. First of all we could welcome another member in our team: Nash from the regional group in Sunyani. After that our team of four people went to the Estate-Manager, who wellcomed us very warmly and took us to our working place where Emmanuel, the head of the maintainance department, was so kind to show us the hospital. Again we were introduced to many people who all welcomed us to Ghana and to the hospital with a warm smile. Back to our working room we started with a meeting to clarify the current situation of the maintenance department, actual tasks and challenges. To complete our overview about the work of Emmanuel and his coworkers we joined them the rest of the day to repair some devices like a patient monitor and a scale.

As we still had some time between we also could have a look at the incinerators which were built by TeoG in 2012. Lukily we could even see one incinerator running. As we had Nash our Ghanaian member with us who translated the conversation with the burner we got many helpful information about the current waste burning situation.

Back to our home after a cup of tea we used our new knowlege about the situation to make a plan for our stay at the holy family hospital and write our documentation.
Finally we could enjoy the Ghanaian food again (as already for lunch), which was made by our great cook Mrs. Abu: potatoes, yam and fish with a great sauce.
