Water supply for Technical High School in Cameroon, Bayangam
About the Project
Project description
Bayangam lies in the region of Western Cameroon in the tropical climate area and faces a dry season from November to February, and a rainy season from March to October. Several hand driven wells in the village are not deep enough, so that they can only provide water during the rainy season and run dry in the dry season. In this project, we aim to improve the water supply for the technical high school in Bayangam. The hydrogeological assessment told us that the old well at the school is in general ok, but the pump is not working anymore and piping and storage are old and partially broken. We will optimize the existing well by cleaning and installation of a new pump with effective sensors and control to ensure longer lifetime of the pumps and optimal water management. A solar plant for the pump will help to bridge power gaps in the local current grid.
Training and TeoG Cameroon
Along with the improvement of the water supply, we want to start a regional group of TeoG in Cameroon with students from the University in Bayangam and senior students from the high school. The group will get a technical training and a project management training, so that they can maintain our current projects in Bayangam and Nzindong as well as start new projects from the scratch.
