Good news – Ready to start!
Dear Supporters,
Dear Friends,
we have good news:
after quite some delay we finally got the approval for cement supply. This was an important hurdle to be taken for the project’s progress.
For the scheduled start of construction work in last year our local partner, the Water Resource Department of Eritrea, could unfortunately not provide the cement in time. The reason is a very shortened availability of cement due to limited cement production within the country, strongly restricted import options and the additional prioritization of different governmental construction projects. This situation came to a head last year so that the access to cement became virtually impossible.
Even though the funding was completed already earlier – also thanks to your support – the start of construction work had to be adjourned. The occurring problems lead to a delay in the issuance of the budget and therefore also in the transfer to the project region. But after finally obtaining the longed-for approval, the first tranche of money could now be sent to our Eritrean project partners. That was the last obstacle we had to surmount before the actual start of the implementation.
During the implementation a team from our project group from Hamburg will travel again to Eritrea to accompany our partners and to further contribute to the progress of the project. The current target for the start of construction work is mid 2017.
We will keep you further updated until then. Thank you for your constant support until now!
