First days at DHOS

The first days of work are over. We have been busy taking inventory and have had the opportunity to get to know the technicians a bit better. So in that time we are already working through the intensive care units (ICU), the radiology department, the emergency room, the cath lab and some other smaller departments. At lunchtime, we go together with the technicians to the cafeteria or to small restaurants in the vicinity, where you can eat unbeatably cheap and insanely delicious food.

On Friday evening we are allowed to try homemade momos together with Deepak (our cook from the guesthouse). Momos are Nepalese dumplings made from a simple dough that are filled in an elaborate way and then steamed in a huge cooking pot. Whether our own attempts do justice to Nepalese momo culture is questionable, but taste-wise, it is once again a fantastic dinner!

Saturday is the general day off of the week in Nepal, so it’s the German Sunday, so to speak 😀 But that works to our advantage, as we still have some legacy to work off in the app. Four years ago, TeoG already did a Swift App pilot project in Dhulikhel. Of course, the app was nowhere near as well developed at that time, so the devices still need to be assigned to the respective departments, for example. In the afternoon we went for a walk through the rice fields and the city center of Dhulikhel.

Sunday we worked again before we went to Kathmandu for 2 days. But more about that in the next blog entry 😊
