Update: 25th October

Our 4th day started with a very special breakfast, bananacake with Ghanaian bananas! You can aktually not imagine how good Ghanaian fruits taste until you have tried by yourself!

As we had planned very well our schedule for today, we could start working just after breakfast. Our first action was to fetch the broken incubators (from the NICU). As there were three incubators, we worked according to the motto: make one out of two. So we dismantled them, cleaned them and tried to find the broken part. The last one of course was the most tricky one. This was the moment when Timo could show his extensive knowledge about electronical devices in cooperation with Emmanuel. At the end there were even two incubator fixed out of three. As it is almost impossible to get spare parts for that kind of medical devices in Ghana, we were quite lucky to be able to use the parts of the third broken one.

This time we got the same lunch as the doctors in the hospital which tasted great! The last broken device on this day was an oxygen concentrator. After some searching we located the failure in a short circuit inside a capacitor on the circuitboard. Tomorrow we will try to find a spare part in another not working devices.
