27th and 28th October

Day 5 and 6

It´s Friday! So after finishing this blog there is weekend!

But first I have to tell about the last two exhausting but also quite motivating days. Yesterday morning right at the office Annika and I picked our laptop and continued our tour to complete the inventory list. Timo and Nash stayed there to work with the maintenance team. During our walkI was quite glad that I just had to follow Annika. Otherwise I would have got lost sooner or later or at least it would probably have taken me days to find all the 25 departments of the hospital. But today we are proud having gone through almost all of them and put every medical device in the list. This is the basis for the maintenance department to have an overview and cooperate with the NGOs that support the hospital. The best I can remember was checking the devices in the NICU (Natal Intensive Care Unit). In there the temperature was like more then 35°C and there was no air flow. After working one hour in there, we were so glad to be able to escape. I am really impressed by the doctors and nurses working there the whole day.

As we had already finished our list at 10am this morning we returned back, where we had to notice that Emmanuel would not be able to join our prepared preventive maintenance workshop because of health reasons. So we delayed this to Monday and wished him to get well soon. Before we had our lunch, we could experience the professionalism of the maintenance team in cleaning a suction mashine which was blocked by blood. You cannot imagine the smell 🙁

I aktually did not join the others after lunch to have time to work on my own project (organising project leader workshops). Making calls, writing emails and translating my presentation.

If you read our blog you will have noticed, that we are always telling about our work and our tasks. This is the moment we notice that we have to see more of the country, the world outside the hospital! Tomorrow we will drive to a waterfall near Techiman. The time off will be good for us and in my opinion it will also be good for the quality of our project.

Have a nice weekend! We definitely will! 🙂
