Arrival of Repairs
8th of September 2017
Today everyone was there. Our technician Francis, the freshly hired elektrical engineer David, Estate Manager Domenik, our driver, Sister Veronice(fromer head of the nuns), Sister Margrit(head of the nuns) and two genetlemen from the administration, and of course us.
The day started as usual with our breakfast, then a quick ride to the hospital and a fast check on the generators with the engineer and Francis. We were then called into the administration for the official meeting with all the obove. They thanked us for our service, we explained our plan for this visit in detail and wished all the best for our work. The meetings here all start with a prayer in the beginning since it’s a catholic hospital.
Back at the generators we went upon closer inspection and discussion with the two experts. On the mechanical side both generators are faboulusly maintained; new belts, oil filter changes even with out oil filter spanner. The electrical side was only good on the bigger one. The smaller one had its coils rewired and subsequently a wrong voltage regulator installed. After checking the rest we determined that to be the only problem of the gen-set. Fixable. The part is availabe here or can possibly be improted thourgh us for alower price.
After lunch and visiting the incinerator, that has made a great improvement, we started to work with Francis on two devices he had trouble with: an autoclave and a centrifuge. Without going into to may details, the autoclave was just not propperly used and the centrifuge had one small defect that stopped it from starting at all. Remove the part, replace the function, put it back togehter and it’s buzzing away at 30.000 rpm. A good finish to the day
tomorrow we make our way to our last hospital in Kpandu
